FAREWELL TO GOOD FRIEND & ACTOR...

ALAN BERKOWITZ 1939 - 2014
Alan was an actor who stepped into many roles during his tenure with the studio and he was also my best friend and my personally conciliary...as he often reminded me. He was a professional, always showing up early on sets and going over his lines and dialog for any improvisations that were required. He had charm in his delivery and he was creative as hell.

What I will miss most is his smile, his charismatic flirts with hostesses and waitresses, he was funny all the time and a great conversationalist when we met for breakfast. He always had gleam in his eyes and he served the best compliments towards humanity than most the people I worked with in the Independent film industry.

I still remember the first day he was introduced to me on the improv set of CHIMERA. He was in good health, but had just come off a stay at St. Lukes in the Woodlands for blood clots. He used the pain he felt during his stay for his role as "grandpa', proving he was a master at presenting method acting as a superior weapon in front of the camera.

His acting prowess from that time forward never let up and he was always ready for the next challenge. He never complained about his part or his roles, and what I liked best is that I never felt the need to type-cast him in any of the short films he performed in. Alan was so proud of being part of the team and only hoped that his performances helped everyone else in their project.
It is my opinion that he left this world too soon and too young. In October he had been stricken with walking pneumonia prior to his move to Atlanta, GA. He was happy to be moving closer to his family and his wife's family as well. He had just got healthy enough for travel when he decided to get on the road and had a severe relapse upon his arrival to Georgia. The last time I talked to Alan, he remained positive about his health, his happiness, and was hoping everyone in Houston would know he was thinking about them and their happiness.

Alan never gave up on his dreams and played piano with all of his heart every time he was asked to play. We didn't always agree on matters of politics and religion, but we had a funny way of handling our pressures through good humor and funny joke to sooth the bumpiness of our differences; I liked that I met a man of the same caliber and pride I claim to have.
He was a proud Jew and fellow Christian. More to the point, he was a believer in God and truly felt that there were better things that we [as people] could do to make it easier on ourselves, if we just took the time to listen to one another. There was often a little hint of parody in his religious beliefs by the way he participated in the holiday season as the ONLY "Jewish Santa" in existence. His book of the same title is one of my favorites!

I pray he is in a happier place. I will miss him every day of my life.

Good bye, Alan...We will see you again someday.

WISHBONES TRAILER RELEASED!

Starring Omar Scanu, Teresa Kennedy, and introducing Mel Weems
This is the first Native American paranormal thriller Web Series to hit the Internet from Texas. Based on some true events concerning clairvoyant paranormal investigations, this new series takes a broader look into the side-effects of having the ability of "sight" and having to deal with many inner demons which are summoned from within during its use.

The multi-talented and edgy Omar Scanu takes the role of William "Many Hands" Alvarez, a Native American Psychic/Clairvoyant with the ability to see past events in reverse, and in some cases, also has the ability to "adjust" small events in the past to favor the victim and change the outcome; only he retains the memory of what actually occurred in the alternate history, while others are naive to what he's done. But the lead character is not without issues of his own, as he is a recovering alcoholic who used alcohol to cancel out his clairvoyant, time-adjusting ability.

Developed over three years of writing, the series creator-writer-director, D. R. Quintana, and co-producer, Glenda Rovito are planning to deliver a new web series with an eerie look into the matters of paranormal, psychic powers used in solving cold case crime investigations. As always, the new series will have a familiar filming format which is a trademark of Quintana's past work; so he warns people to expect to see some visual effects which were used in his  studios previous web series.
Quintana has chosen to change the filming format of his work by instilling a method of changing camera lenses from one scene to another and adjusting the tone of colors throughout all of the episodes production; something he has never done before.

"During the first five years of working in Texas on other Sci-Fi web shows, I spent more time on capturing epic scenes than doing post-editing adjustments where I felt they weren't required" Quintana said. "But over time, I learned that some projects prosper from solid post-editing. And Wishbones is my first attempt at doing so. I am very impressed with the final results."

Assisted with the acting talents of the veteran Teresa Kennedy and new comer, Mel Weems, the trailer also presents the work of the talented, Drucilla Marie, as the victim in the first episode. The Wishbones trailer is an eerie first look at William's connection with the netherworld and a cold look at a crime which has perplexed the local investigative teams over the death of a young high school student in a rural cabin in the woods.

"The casting for this series will be small" added Quintana. "It is planned that two extras will be brought in for each episode as victims and are presented in alternate endings which will either favor the victim or capture the killer. Some of the stories written for the series are fictional, but many are not."
The prospect of landing a continuing role on a world-wide stage is always the goal of any actor. The studio reported that Scanu is more than excited to get this new series launched into the Internet to present his work. "I've worked on and off with Omar on several small projects" said Quintana. "I shared this project with him over the years and we were just waiting for the right time, the right actors to support, and the right filming format to get things rolling in the best direction."

Wishbones was produced "under the radar" and without the promotional push of a Facebook page or series production updates through a blog; a first for Q Storm Productions. The studio says that the production team feels great to release something which was kept under wraps and without outside pressure to lure extra crews to assist in the production of the series.
Being produced entirely in Montgomery County, the new series is planned as a mini-series to begin in January and end in March with the possibility of a second set of mini-episodes in the summer. This new series is planned for release early in 2015.

STUDIO E-MAGAZNE RELEASES WINTER ISSUE!

Gracing the cover of the new issue for only the second time, is the sexy and talented Maque Garcia!
With the studio changing filming formats for 2015, the decision to focus production efforts towards the Latin audiences in Texas is proving to get the right attention from the right people. Maque Garcia and her connections with the Latin Networks is are planning to bring some super-successful films aimed directly at the regional Latin community with popular, soap opera based films and web series.
Many people have problems pronouncing her first name [Mah'Que], but it has not hurt any part of Maque Garica's career in short films, web series, or Latin television. After completing her role in The ANGELIKA5 Movie, she has immediately pushed her career to star in several films with the studio, one the highly anticipated "Lastima Del Alma" with Eddie Enriquez and Saira Ramos, set for release early next year; and the dubious comedy entitled "150", which is sure to get some good attention in the Texas Film Festival circuits next year.

There had been some question as to the secretive nature by the studio in the past two months concerning, Star Trek Minotaur, but this new issue presents a few more production stills for the new Sci-Fi series and a look at Maque's role as Commander "Ivy" Milano during production.

"There is nothing to worry about", says an excited Maque. "David and the team are working hard to bring you the best show they can. Minotaur will definitely be worth the wait and I am happy with the work we've devoted to the show. It is a serious show with lots of good stories and actors. It's been great fun playing a wine drinking doctor!"

TO YOUTUBE OR NOT...?

Recently, I was asked by a talentless, British "want-to-be" as to why I do not promote any of the Q Storm Studio projects on Youtube.com for everyone to see.

The answer was simple...demographically, Youtube does not break down which country has the targeted audience a project is looking for; as previewed below:
There are only a handful of local projects that actually have an out of state [or out of Houston] fan base that follows their projects. With marketing and promotional work aimed elsewhere, the project is sure to get the widest dissemination for future enterprises.

No Q Storm Studio project has ever catered its existence for the career of ONE person. Everyone gets to share in the projects success and world-wide exposure. Some actors and crew know how to handle that type of privilege, while others like to exploit it for lunch money and wind up being let go for their narrow minded vision.

But by also controlling where the project is presented, it also prevents psychotic freaks [like the British want-to-be] from copying or downloading the studio project for their own personal use.

BIONICA SNEAK PEEK VIDEO SURFACES...

A very patriotic sneak peek for BIONICA: Episode Zero has surfaced on the Internet and a vast scramble by Bionic fans has started to flood the networks looking for a chance peek at the studios production on the super-secret web series which is now apparently is in the final stages of production.

The studio has made no mention for the release of the sneak peek video, or as to whether the release was an intentional move for a promotional surge for the studios line of summer and fall projects being planned for release.

There has been no reports of stolen footage or lost work, but that the video did mysteriously surface on the Internet as a "bootleg copy." The studio beleives that the video may have been commandeered by a Facebook fan on the Directors Facebook Page.

It is clear that the video is not a trailer for the new web series, but that it is an actual scene from Episode Zero. The studios Promotional Director, Cera Stanton, stated that the scenes release was unfortunate, but couldn't have come at a better time since Dru Marie Rovito is planned to appear in three studio projects this fall.

Due to the release of the short video, the studio made the decision to release several production stills of the production efforts on the series. The studio was hoping to release a trailer video on July 4th, promoting the premiere of BIONICA in mid-September.

No further information on the series has been released. For more information, but sure to stop by the BIONICA Facebook page & BIONICA_Nation blog.

STUDIO E-MAGAZINE RELEASES MAY ISSUE!!!

The studio released the new issue with a surprise cover depicting the new cast of the long awaited sequel to Ghosties: The Witches Spell, which set an impressive "Sold Out - Standing Room Only" event on it's premiere night in 2011; surpassing ticket sales to any previous Houston Independent Film ever produced in H-Town by a tremendous margin.

Ghosties 2: Tale of the Bride starts right off where the first film left off and plans to take teenage and adult audiences on another fun adventure of ghost hunting. The film is set to bring back cast members from the first film; Fabritzia Faustinella, Kacey Kelly, Alan Berkowitz, with the assistance from new actors Ellen Falterman [STOA5] and Tim Eggert [STM].

G2 was written by D. R. Quintana and Daniel Quintana during the early spring of 2014, and will share the big screen with two other unidentified film projects which are currently in production and set for a fall release. The writing duo have confirmed that G2 will run approximately 80 minutes and is planned for release in September 2014.

The films associate producer, Glenda Rovito, found a new cast of theater actors to portray roles for the second run of characters for the film, which is proving to be the films true strength. The films director is claiming that G2 will be another big hit within the Houston based Independent film movement.

GHOSTIES 2 GETS READY FOR LAUNCH!

Well, it's not a secret anymore!...if the studios planned cover for it's vaunted E-Magazine isn't hint enough, the studio is getting ready to launch another great film in the vast Independent film market!
David Quintana & Glenda Rovito are producing one of the HOTTEST children's film ever produced in the Texas Independent film scene. After 2011's successful first film, GHOSTIES: The Witches Spell; starring Tanner Fontana & Jessica Yanker, the new sequel is sure to bring another new set of young fans to the theaters to conclude the story which was left wide open for a sequel. This new sequel starts up right where the old one left off and the films "Pitch" teaser-trailer has already proven to be a hit with two film test audiences.

This sequel, GHOSTIES: Tale of the Bride will introduce a new young cast of theater actors who have never worked in the Independent film industry. The studios claim is that this sequel is sure to outshine the first film in the series and bring out a new line of young talent into the glut of new actors being promoted throughout the state of Texas.
Director David Quintana is very proud to announce that this sequel has been purposely aimed at a safe atmosphere for families and children during it's production; adding a little horror to keep the young fans at the edge of their seats. The film is currently slated as a PG rated film.

Assisting the new upstart thespians in this new film will be the return of some old faces; Kacey Kelley, Alan Berkowitz, and Fabrizia Faustinella, along with the addition of the talented Ellen Falterman and Tim Eggert. The film is planned as a 90 minute feature and is currently being produced in Beaumont, Montgomery, and Tarkington, Texas.
